How to choose the right oil seal?


1. Consider sealing medium and material compatibility

  • Nitrile rubber has good oil resistance and is suitable for general lubricating oil sealing;
  • Fluororubber has excellent acid and alkali resistance and oil resistance, and is often used in chemically corrosive environments;
  • Silicone rubber has good heat and cold resistance, but low mechanical strength, and is suitable for occasions with high temperature requirements. Ensure that the selected oil seal material is compatible with the lubricant, chemical and other media in contact.

2. Determine the oil seal type

  • Single lip oil seal: usually used in low pressure environment, can effectively prevent oil leakage.
  • Double lip seal: There is an extra dust-proof lip, suitable for dust and dirt heavy environment, can provide additional protection against pollution.
  • Spring-loaded oil seal: Equipped with a spring to maintain constant pressure on the seal lip, suitable for high-speed applications.

3.Pay attention to installation conditions

  • Dimensions: Accurately measure dimensions such as shaft diameter, aperture and the width of the sealing housing to ensure the exact match of the oil seal to the installation site.
  • Installation space: If space is limited, you can choose a compact internal skeleton oil seal; For better thermal performance and higher load capacity, consider the exposed skeleton oil seal.
